Our purpose

Why GERDH matters

Across Uganda, non-state actors generate valuable data that captures community experiences, needs, service delivery realities, and development outcomes. This evidence provides important insights into development issues and population groups that may not be adequately reflected in existing statistical systems. However, it often remains fragmented across organisations, limiting its visibility, accessibility, comparability, and use in policy, planning, and decision-making.

The Gender Research and Data Hub (GERDH) seeks to address this gap by providing a shared platform that brings together CSOs, CBOs, academia, and the private sector to strengthen the generation, management, sharing, and use of CGD. It facilitates collaboration between non-state actors, the National Statistical Office (UBOS), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and development partners to promote good data practices, strengthen data quality, and enhance the accessibility and uptake of citizen-generated evidence.

By complementing the National Statistical System, GERDH creates opportunities for CGD to enrich the national evidence base, inform policy and development planning, strengthen accountability, and support more inclusive, responsive, and evidence-based decision-making.
